Familiar Strangers
"A familiar stranger is an individual who is recognized from regular activities, but with whom one does not interact. First identified by Stanley Milgram in the 1972 paper The Familiar Stranger: An Aspect of Urban Anonymity, it has become an increasingly popular concept in research about social networks.
Somebody who is seen daily on the train or at the gym, but with whom one does not otherwise communicate, is an example of a familiar stranger. Interestingly, if such individuals meet in an unfamiliar setting, for example while travelling, they are more likely to introduce themselves than would perfect strangers, since they have a background of shared experiences."(wikipedia)
well this phenomenon,i bet everybody has experienced it.
ther is another kind of familiar stranger is when you see a person and u find great affinity towards him/her.you feel like i
have known this person for years and are compelled to strike a conversation with them.
this has happend to me several times. There was guy i met while playing football,he resembled my younger brother,i was compelled to talk to him.
then the other day there was a girl i saw in the bus and i was like,i know her,i have known her for years.
and the list continues.....
